Filming on Veep season 7, and the series itself, officially wraps

You may have to wait until the new year in order to see Veep season 7, but you should know that work on the final scene is actually already done. It’s a cause for some celebration, alongside a reason for some emotion.

In a new post on Instagram, series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus commemorated this news by thanking her hair and makeup team on the show for making her prepared for every single scene; to go along with that, she also shared a number of other images — including one more of her trailer that you can see below. Louis-Dreyfus played outspoken and occasionally controversial politician Selina Meyer on the HBO series. She was highly ambitious, but also greedy, self-destructive, and prone to putting her foot in her mouth on a regular basis. She had a hard time finding any happiness for herself save for either running for President or being in power. She technically was President, but it happened for such a short period of time that she didn’t get to relish it.

Also, she wasn’t actually elected President — that’s one of the most important things to her, since she is desperate for that level of approval. That’s why, at the end of this past season and much to the chagrin of some people close to her, she decided that she wanted to try and run again. If that sticks, there’s a reasonable chance that this could become the primary storyline for much of the final season.

Filming for the final season was initially pushed back because of Louis-Dreyfus receiving treatment following a breast-cancer diagnosis. We’re thrilled that she is doing better and she’s back to doing what she does best: Being one of the funniest working actresses in the television world. Selina was badly missed in 2018, a time in which political satire is always appreciated. We’re certainly excited to see whatever she ends up bringing to the table in 2019. Hopefully, there will be some sort of teaser / trailer over the course of the first few months of the year.
