Just in case you weren’t excited already about Billions season 4 coming to Showtime, we’re giving you another reason to be today. The premium-cable network has officially confirmed that the Paul Giamatti — Damian Lewis series is going to be returning with all-new episodes on Sunday, March 17 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. That’s somewhat of an expected premiere date, but what may be a little bit unexpected it’s what is coming in terms of the story ahead.
For the vast majority of Billions’ run on television, we’ve considered it to be this story of two financial heavyweights in Chuck Rhoades and Bobby Axelrod going head to head — Chuck has been desperate to find a way to get Axe prosecuted and somehow, someway, Axe figures out a way to slither into a dark corner where he cannot be completely clutched. Moving into season 4, though, we could see the two of them in a completely different place: One where they are actually working together. They may not be the best of friends, but they’ve also come to realize that there are a lot of common enemies that they want to take out. What better way to do that than by working together? They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses so well that there is a certain degree of merit to everyone finding a way to properly work together here.
Want some more information now all about what’s coming up? Then be sure to check out the official Billions season 4 synopsis below:
When everyone is out for revenge, no one is safe. This is never more true than in season four of BILLIONS. Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), former enemies, and Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), the chief counselor to each, have come together to form an uneasy but highly effective alliance, aimed at the eradication of all their rivals, including Grigor Andolov (guest star John Malkovich), Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon), Brian Connerty (Toby Leonard Moore) and Waylon ‘Jock’ Jeffcoat (guest star Clancy Brown). Ambition and betrayal have long been at the heart of BILLIONS, and this season all the characters find out exactly how high a price they’ll have to pay to satisfy those needs. The series also stars David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin, Jeffrey DeMunn and Malin Akerman, along with new guest stars Samantha Mathis, Kevin Pollak, Jade Eshete and Nina Arianda.
The teaser below may be short, but we certainly do think that it does a good-enough job of selling you on some of the tension, drama, and intrigue that is coming up. We’re gearing up for what could be the most pivotal season of Billions so far and it’s one that could have wide repercussions on the remainder of the series, really no matter how long it lasts.
