Going into tonight’s finale, does it make sense to start discussing the Ink Master season 12 renewal odds? We certainly like to think so.
For now, we should start things off here with a note that technically, there has yet to be an official renewal over at the Paramount Network for the series. yet, that feels almost like a foregone conclusion. This show regularly performs well in the 18-49 demographic, and that’s just in terms of live viewings alone. It’s hard to imagine a world in which it does not stick around for quite some time moving forward.
Beyond just this, we do also know that there is already casting underway for the new season. You can read more about that over at the link here. While casting does not necessarily mean that the show is going to be renewed, we do think that this is a pretty strong indication that there is going to be more episodes coming up … it’s at least a sign that the production wants to keep going.
As for when the new batch of episodes could end up premiering, our feeling is that they could start as early as the spring / early summer given the fact that the show tends to produce three seasons per every two years. We got two seasons this year, so with that our sentiment is that we’ll get one season starting up in the spring / summer and then the 13th season, provided it happens, in early 2020.
So what do we want to see?
For starters, it would be nice to have a season of all-new players. We don’t mean this to be disrespectful to the returning artists (especially since we like a ton of them!), but it’s harder to get to know the new contestants if you’re also giving air time to all of the veterans plus the judges. We’re more than fine at this point to get a season full of just new contestants battling it out for the title. This is a format that does work and we don’t really think that all that much needs to be changed. The only thing that we’d consider is scrap the first episode where a ton of artists get sent home. It’s a little more interesting to just start with the entire field set and with there being as much time as possible to get to know some of the contestants who are actually competing for the title in the end.
It’s possible tonight that there will be some more news to share regarding Ink Master season 12. We’d suggest to stay tuned for some more of the latest.
