Absentia season 2 filming wraps; what lies ahead now?

As confirmed in a post on Twitter, series star Cara Theobold officially confirmed that filming on the Sony production is officially done — and that is a cause for great celebration! There was a wrap party and now, everyone can start to move forward into the new year looking forward to whatever the future holds.
So what does the future hold for us as viewers? Well, for starters, finding out the premiere dates for some various territories! We imagine that Absentia will operate with a release structure that is somewhat-similar to what it had during season 1, which is when the show aired in a number of different countries well before it made it to Amazon in America. This is at least our expectation for now, and we shall be pleasantly surprised if we ever learn otherwise. (We don’t think that the series will premiere anywhere for at least a few months, given that all of these episodes have to be pieced together in post before they can make it to the air.)
Beyond just premiere dates, of course we’ve got some other promotional goodies to look forward to, including a new trailer and some other teases down the line! One of the most surprising things about season 2 as a whole is just how secretive it seems to be at the moment. Nobody is really saying all that much at the moment about what the overarching story is, but we are assuming that Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) will find herself at the center of a complicated, difficult story that revolves at least in part about what she’s been through already.
So what does the future hold beyond season 2?
At the moment, there is still a chance that there could be a third season down the line — we know that there were at one point talks about the show getting a two-season renewal. That didn’t happen, but we’re at least still optimistic and interested in seeing precisely how things unfold moving into the future. Remember that if you love Absentia, the best thing that you can do in order to support it is to watch it as soon as possible after it comes out in your territory of choice.
