Want to know some more information about the 2018 Miss Universe Pageant, which is coming to TV later tonight? We’ve got some more news on that very subject right now.
The first thing worth noting here is that the pageant is happening LIVE tonight, which really is a reminder that just about anything can happen. Haven’t we seen proof of that, in some form or another, over the past few years?
For those of you in the United States, you can watch the pageant tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. The event is going to be airing on Fox, and Steve Harvey is going to serve as the master of ceremonies. This is going to be a whopping three-hour affair and by the end of it, we will have some sort of official champion.
The pageant has become somewhat of a strange television ceremony over the years, mostly because A) there are people on social media watching just for potentially-awkward viral moments and B) Steve Harvey has had his fair share of gaffes before. There’s already been some controversy surrounding Miss USA so far this year, and that could have at least some sort of impact on the end results tonight. The only thing that we would bank on seeing in some shape or form is Miss Philippines performing reasonably well, largely because the pageant has a tendency to be extremely popular in the country and there is often a good bit of preparation that goes into it there.
So why does the Pageant have a tendency to run so late in the year? Well, one of the simplest reasons for this is that it allows for Fox to have an opportunity to promote it on a night when there isn’t a whole lot else going on elsewhere. This is a great chance for them to make the most of limited competition and deliver on something that can generate a huge audience of people checking it out as an alternative to what is going on within the sports world.
If you do have a curiosity as to what’s going to happen on the pageant tonight, stay tuned — we’ll have some more scoop throughout the show, including some announcement of the winner at the very end of it. On the other half of it, we’ll see what sort of contributions the champion ends up having to make the world a much better place.
