Kit Harington mocks Game of Thrones in new How to Train Your Dragon ‘audition’
In the video below, you can see Kit Harington and an “audition tape” featuring him for an “Untitled Fantasy TV Drama.” Basically, the idea here is that this was Kit’s first audition for the HBO show. Yet, it’s actually a promotion for the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. It’s really some fun cross-promotion for the movie, especially when it comes to marketing the movie to adults who are fans of Game of Thrones.
As for why Harington would do this, the answer to that seems to be fairly obvious — it’s fantastic cross-promotion for both his show and also his comic timing and sensibility. Most of the public knows him for playing the brooding, oft-suffering Jon Snow. Yet, in real life the actor obviously has a little bit more of a sense of humor than most people realize. This is a chance to show a little bit of that off and also present himself as someone who younger viewers can appreciate. It’s a great career move for him as he has to look forward now beyond just Game of Thrones to his future. Kit has already said that he has no intention of ever returning to the Game of Thrones franchise after the final season, which is airing on HBO in the new year. Comedy is a great entry point to a lot of different opportunities for him.
The new How to Drain Your Dragon movie premieres in theaters next year — consider this video a great way to have a laugh leading into the weekend. We imagine that we’ll be seeing Harington a lot on TV moving into the new year but, for the time being, it’s a little bit too early to know for sure where he will turn up. (Hopefully, there are some more comedic venues for him.)
As for what we’re expecting from Jon Snow on Game of Thrones season 8, it’s tied a lot to the fact that we’re nearing potentially the end of Westeros as we know it. While we’re sure that there are some issues that will stem from him and Daenerys sleeping together at the end of last season, the larger priority at the moment is obviously ridding the world of the White Walkers.
