Jersey Shore Family Vacation season 3 renewal confirmed at MTV
According to a new report via Deadline, the network has officially ordered another batch of episodes for the reality franchise, which is going to air at some point in 2019. If you recall, yesterday we wrote about the future of the series and actually advocated for them holding back for a little while for a myriad of reasons. For starters, Deena and Snooki are both set to welcome new babies and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is heading off to prison. It’s hard to imagine what a season 3 would even look like given that so many cast members could be in different places in their lives doing a wide array of things. This is a season that could be similar to Part 2, which was looser in structure and combined almost the original Jersey Shore concept with also The Real Housewives and some of the way that it tells stories.
Ultimately, we do understand why MTV was eager to go ahead and give another season of this show a green light. After all, they more than likely recognize the strength of the Jersey Shore brand and also, to go along with that, the need to strike, more or less, while the iron is hot. You don’t want to run the risk of not taking advantage of an opportunity and then screwing yourselves over later. What if Jersey Shore isn’t popular in 2020? There’s no denying that, at least for now, Family Vacation has been a hit for them — we don’t think that Part 2 lived up to the fun of Part 1 by any means, but this is still a franchise with some legs and a lot of nostalgic viewers out there. They took a big chance years ago when they decided to continue to use the same cast rather than just constantly rebooting the concept, but it is one that has worked out really well for them.
Odds are, filming for season 3 of Jersey Shore Family Vacation is officially going to kick off at some point next year, provided that there hasn’t been some footage shot discreetly along the way. When that happens, and when there’s more news all about what you can expect, we’ll have some of that for you here.
