Outlander season 4 photo: Prepare for more Laoghaire soon…

In a post below via Twitter, you can see series star Nell Hudson confirm that you will be seeing her character on the show in some capacity moving forward. For book readers, you know a thing or two about what’s coming here. Even if you are a show viewer, though, this isn’t a really hard puzzle to piece together when you think about it. Just look at things this way — we’re talking here about a character who was last seen in Scotland during the 18th century. With that, there are only so many possibilities as to who could actually be in Scotland to go along with her. Think in terms of either Roger or Brianna here. The more appealing option here is clearly Bree, mostly because the sentiment from Laoghaire towards Claire has been made very clear over the years.
Regardless of who she interacts with, Laoghaire is one of those endlessly-entertaining characters just because she’s always going 100 miles an hour. She thinks quickly and acts quickly, and that does often lead to herself getting in some trouble. Yet, at the same time there’s something delightful that comes with it. She’s one of those characters who may not love — and understandably so, given her actions — but she brings so much to the table.
At this point in the run of the series, it’s pretty darn clear that you have to take advantage of any Scotland character on Outlander at just about every little chance that you can. After all, these are not people who are probably going to be a really huge part of the show for some time and this is really a chance to properly embrace them and just about everything that they bring to the table. With Laoghaire, it’s her spitfire personally and her way to almost-instantly cause conflict. Yet, we also cannot forget that she is Marsali’s mother, and she has become a key part of Jamie and Claire’s inner circle in North Carolina. (That’s a part of the fun of this show — relationships do often change over time.)
We’ll see whether or not Laoghaire turns up Sunday night or at some point down the road. More than likely, it will be soon.
