While tonight may be the final installment of the Fox series in 2018, there is a silver lining that is worth reporting here: You’re not going to have to wait too long to see the series once more in the new year. The show is going to return on Friday, January 4, and with an installment entitled “Three for the Road” that actually was originally scheduled to air a little bit earlier this fall. It was switched around, which sometimes happens for series that are a little more story-of-the-week based, and it’s now airing to kick off the new year. The basic summation of what we are trying to say here is that there’s almost certainly not going to be anything in this episode that changes what’s happening when it comes to the story at large. This is a standalone episode, but it could be a reasonably-entertaining one given that at the center of it is Ryan, Mike, and Boyd going on a field trip together.

When Mike offers to take Boyd on a fishing trip, Ryan objects, as his plans interfere with an existing trip he made with his son. Boyd insists the three take a trip together, forcing Mike and Ryan to get along. Meanwhile Mandy and Kyle play detectives when they suspect Ed was involved in a long-ago murder in the all-new “Three for the Road” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, Jan. 4 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Is the idea of Ed being involved in a murder a little bit dark for a show like this? Probably, but we have a feeling that the producers are going to present whatever is going on here in a little bit more of a comedic light. Nothing is always quite what it seems! The primary goal with this show is mostly to just find a way to bring us some laughs and they’ve done a great job with that this season.
