The bad news with The Flash is that we are about to see the series go off the air for a rather-substantial amount of time — think in terms of a little bit more than a month. This is fairly commonplace with the CW series, mostly because the network likes to steer clear of the holidays and, beyond that, likes to air its episodes in bunches. They would rather have longer hiatuses than air an episode, air a repeat, and then air another new episode. This is a pattern that just makes a little bit more sense for them.
According to a report from the Futon Critic at present, new episodes of The Flash are going to start airing once more on Tuesday, January 15 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. That’s where we will probably get a nice handful of consecutive episodes, and also where the story will pick back up in its proper form. Just remember for a moment where things ended in terms of the first half of the season — we learned that Nora West-Allen was not exactly truthful when it came to every finer detail of her life. She has actually spent a good bit of time with Eobard Thawne in the future and he has manipulated / fed her a lot of information. Not all of it is necessarily going to be true, and the writers have to piece together whatever they want to spotlight and feature when it comes to these characters.
Beyond just that, there is of course still the threat of Cicada that is out there. While Team Flash has figured out now that Killer Frost may be their secret weapon against him (her powers do not come out of dark matter), they still haven’t been able to actually stop him. He’s shown himself to be somewhat invulnerable and while his goal of attacking meta-humans has been reasonably specific as of late, it’s possible that it could escalate as the season goes along and the character starts to feel a little bit more desperate.
Of course, we also do still imagine plenty of humor and some villain-of-the-week stories mixed in.
