Elseworlds part 1 sneak peek: Barry Allen, Oliver Queen meet Superman

Elseworlds

The official Elseworlds crossover event premieres on The CW Sunday night, and luckily folks behind the scenes are wasting little to no time giving us some fun scoop.

In the video below via TV Guide, you can see a sneak peek featuring a long-awaited meeting between Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, and Clark Kent! The heroes from The Flash and Arrow have already met Kara Danvers, but this is the first time that they’ve actually encountered Superman in any shape or form. Tyler Hoechlin’s character seems eager to welcome them as they all convene at the famous Smallville farm. This in itself is a nice reference to the classic CW series, one that introduced a different version of the Green Arrow played by Justin Hartley.

There is one other super-notable part of this sneak preview, and it relates back to the central premise of Elseworlds as a whole — Barry and Oliver waking up in each other’s bodies. What’s interesting about this particular preview, though, is that Kara and Clark seem to be perfectly aware of who is who — they don’t think that Barry is Oliver or vice-versa. Whatever happened to some of these characters over on Earth-1 does not seem to be having all that much of a bearing on them over on Kara and Clark’s part of the multiverse.

As for why all of this is happening, it seems to be some machination set up by The Monitor, who is overseeing almost everything. As for what this character wants and his desired endgame, this is something that the crossover could make a little bit clearer. We’ve got a few teases all about it via the teasers at the end of this past few episodes of Arrow, Supergirl, and The Flash, but nothing that spells things out in an altogether-clear way.

Remember that Sunday night’s Elseworlds Part 1 is actually going to be an episode of The Flash, not that this really matters all that much since the crossover is one continuous story. If you like one of these series, we strongly suggest that you go ahead and check out all of them. That’s the #1 way to ensure that you don’t miss any updates or Easter eggs for whoever your favorite heroes are.
