The Gifted season 2 episode 10 return date hopes for Amy Acker, cast
The unfortunate news is that tonight’s new episode is, in fact, the fall finale. With that in mind, you’re going to be waiting for a little while in order to see what’s coming up next. As for how long we’re talking here, think in terms of the new year … or maybe even New Year’s Day. According to a new report that is coming in right now via the Futon Critic, the Fox series is going to be coming back on January 1 with new episodes, which is somewhat of a risky move given that New Year’s Day is not always a great day to program on. For one, it’s a holiday and there are a number of people still basking in the glow of that. Beyond just that, there are a number of college football games on the air and that is also something that we’re going to see the series have to contend with.
What do we make of The Gifted coming back so soon? Well, we don’t exactly think that it speaks well to the show’s future … but you could also say that about the ratings for the series itself. The second season is down a considerable amount from the first and is one of Fox’s lowest-rated shows in the 18-49 demographic. If you add to all of this the complications from the Disney – Fox merger and whatever this means for the current version of the X-Men universe, we’re not altogether sure that it represents great things. The Gifted may very well be canceled, but if that is the case, at least it can relish in the fact that it had two seasons and a chance to tell some solid, fascinating stories along the way.
While we do think that The Gifted is on paper a series about powers, there’s also something much deeper here in that it’s a story about community and people really working in order to discover what it actually means to be a family. These are characters who are finding themselves in the middle of a chaotic world and somehow, they manage to come together. Fingers crossed that there is some sort of suitable conclusion by the time we make it to the end of the season, that way nobody feels like they didn’t get their money’s worth here in the event that there is not a third season coming up at some point in the future.
