Supergirl season 4 has just another notable villain in Menagerie, and this one’s being played by a familiar face.

According to a new report coming in now via DeadlineMajor Crimes alum Jessica Meraz is set to play the aforementioned villain (otherwise known here as Pamela Ferrer). In the world of the comics, this is a character with ties to Manchester Black — given that he has been a big part of the season as of late, we have an easy time seeing that this could also be the case here. Pamela is also a jewel thief in the comics, and has the ability to basically summon an alien symbiotic parasite to assume whatever form she so chooses. There are some similarities here to Venom from the Spider-Man world, at least to a certain degree.

This casting suggests that it is at least possible that the Manchester Black story could continue in some iteration, though there are a lot of other open threads that Supergirl is going to have to attend to in the second half of the season. For example, take a look at the aftermath of the Agent Liberty story. Even though Ben Lockwood was put behind bars at the end of this past episode, his supporters are still rallying to his cause and it’s hard to imagine that any of them are going to be going away in the near future. Beyond that, there is also still the story of Lena Luthor and her experiments bubbling underneath the surface. This is something that hasn’t reaped huge rewards just yet, but we have a rather-hard time imagining that it will be vanishing from the radar forever (even if it did briefly on this past episode).

Following Elseworlds, Supergirl will be off the air until the new year. Given that we’re not even at the halfway point in this season, there’s plenty of time for some more great story to come. Meraz is currently listed as recurring, so there should prove to be some great opportunities to see her beyond just a single episode. (We do still have a question as to who will be the central villain at the end of this season — are we really going to see someone like Manchester around at that point, or is Lex Luthor being brought on to serve in that capacity?)
