The Resident season 2 fall finale: Is someone dead; will someone else die?
First, let’s touch on Julian Lynn, who found herself in jeopardy after learning the truth about her medical-device employer Quovadis. She’s someone who really felt like her company was on the up-and-up and she was fighting to make a different alongside them. However, little did she realize that the company and its bigwigs would be so desperate to eliminate someone who knew a little too much about their operation — which included all sorts of fraud and misrepresentation. They feel almost like a mafia more than almost anything. They’re willing to kill in order to protect some of their secrets.
Beyond this, there is also the up-in-the-air status at the moment of one Marshall Winthrop, who found his life in jeopardy after he needed a last-minute operation. Dr. Bell is tasked with trying to find a way to save his life if at all possible and he rushed into the hospital in order to make sure that he could do that.
At one point earlier this season, there was talk that The Resident could kill off a major character by the end of the season. Do these two qualify? They’re certainly up there in that they’ve been a major part of the story as of late. Yet, here’s something that is interesting — executive producer Todd Harthan told TVLine that “the person we were leaning toward [killing off] has changed” from who it was originally meant to be. Was that person going to be one of these two characters, or someone down the road this season? It’s possible that we could be losing someone else who is rather beloved by the end of the season and we don’t want to suddenly have false confidence that all of our favorites are going to find a way out of this by any stretch of the imagination.
We should learn about the fate of Julian and Marshall by the end of the midseason premiere in January; beyond that, we’ll just have to keep watching and speculation. This is a show that could kill off almost anyone!
