Coming up on The Resident season 2 episode 9, otherwise known as the fall finale, it’s clear that Dr. Bell is in an enormous pickle. Could the residue from the Dr. Lane Hunter saga end up dooming his career? It’s absolutely something worth wondering about as we inch closer to the episode coming on the air.

In the video below, Dr. Bell has a meeting with his attorney and over the course of that, it’s abundantly clear as to some of the problems that are there for him following what happened with Dr. Hunter at the end of last season. It’s pretty clear from our vantage point that this person is a monster, and we think that on some level Bell also realizes this. The problem that he faces now is mostly that he had a relationship with said monster and unless he plays his cards right, almost everything could come back on him. He could end up losing his own license, and with that, he finds himself in a position where he could either A) help to find a way to get her out of prison or B) run the risk of his own career falling apart. Given that Dr. Bell is a complete egomaniac who will do almost anything and everything that he wants in order to boost his career, you can’t be surprised that he is strongly considering bailing her out and then waiting for some sort of trial.
If somehow Lane gets away with what she did, we can only imagine what the blowback for this is going to be at Chastain. It’s already abundantly clear that Conrad is never going to have the best relationship in the world with Dr. Bell, but this is only going to expand all of that outward and create even more chaos. Bell is basically in a position where either he loses, or he makes everyone else around him furious. Based on what we know about him, we cannot exactly say that we’re all that shocked that he would burn every bridge in the world before he even starts to think about burning himself.
