Blue Bloods season 9: Is a Donnie Wahlberg – basketball story coming?

At this point, it feels like one thing is well-documented when it comes to Donnie Wahlberg: He’s a pretty big basketball fan. In particular, he loves the Celtics more than just about anyone. While it doesn’t seem as though his Blue Bloods character of Dannie Reagan is going up to the Garden anytime soon, signs do point towards him having a lot on the court in his own way.

In the post HERE via Donnie’s Instagram, you can see him, dressed as Danny, on a basketball court to do something. (Really, he’s at St. John’s in New York, but it may be labeled as something else for the show.) Does this mean that he has some sort of basketball-themed case there? It has to, given that we don’t know why else the character would be there while also sporting his badge. (Don’t you think that he would be in workout clothes if this was just Danny stopping by to shoot a few hoops?)

At the moment, the Blue Bloods cast and crew are rather busy on the second half of the season — with an exception for the past few days, given that everyone at the moment is off enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday with their friends and family. These episodes that the cast are working on now will, more than likely, be available at some point in the new year. CBS tends to scale some of their episodes out from January through March, so it’s a little bit hard to accurately predict when certain ones will air.

What we do know is this, though — any time to see Danny in some different environments is worth watching. It’s a chance to mix things up on a show that often has a very particular form that it likes to follow from one episode to the next. (We know that, in terms of Danny-related content we want to see, a showdown with Delgado is near the top of the list. That’s been some of the best content this season.)
