Greenleaf season 4 premiere date hopes for OWN drama series
Before we say too much more, let’s just start off this article with a reminder that the series has, in fact, already been renewed at the network. The church drama does have a loyal following, and beyond just that, plenty of stories presumably to tell. That’s the thing with a number of OWN dramas — they are constructed in such a character-based way that they could last however long the parties involved want them to … provided that the ratings prove to be very much solid, of course.
Now that we’ve said all of that, let’s get to discussing the latest Greenleaf ratings for the sake of mapping out the series’ long-term future. Season 3 of the show ended up drawing a 0.3 rating on average within the 18-49 demographic. This is down a good 25% or so versus the numbers from season 2.
Meanwhile, in total viewers we have also seen the show take a bit of a tumble, but it’s by a smaller amount — think just over 5% year-to-year. While the demo drop is a bit of a bummer, there’s nothing about the total-viewer decline that signals any problem. As a matter of fact, it’s fairly common that you see shows lose somewhere between 10-15% of their total audience from one year to the next.
When will Greenleaf season 4 premiere?
Provided that the show wants to do a similar run to this fall, the safe bet is to see the show back in the summer of 2019. That also makes some sense when you think about the timing of the renewal earlier this year — that gave the writers and the cast more than enough time to plot ahead and figure out what they want to do.
Of course, with this said we certainly do not expect there to be any confirmation for a rather-long time when it comes to the OWN series and the future. Why would the network announce a premiere date now, especially when everyone would forget about it in between now and when the series comes back on the air? More than likely, we’ll get some more news when it comes to the late spring or the early summer. We’ll keep you posted on that subject.
As for the story, just be ready for more of what you’ve loved — no matter what the cliffhangers are for this season, Greenleaf remains a story about a religious family and some of the ups and downs that come with it. It’s timely in some ways and timeless in others, and that is what makes it perfect television in the end.
