Back at the start of the season, one of the things that we were hearing when it comes to Dever is that she would be appearing on a semi-recurring basis. When she had some time in her schedule, she would come and bank some scenes — even if it was for an episode that was different than the one being currently filmed. Given how busy she got following the series’ initial cancellation, we’re pretty grateful in general that Kaitlyn found some time to still come back and play Eve here and there. She is a big part of the show’s history, and it actually does make sense why she is away here and there because of her being a part of the Air Force Academy.
So what can you expect to see when it comes to the overall story of this episode? Below, CarterMatt has the Last Man Standing season 7 episode 9 synopsis with some other information when it comes to what lies ahead:
Mike finds getting Ed a special Christmas present is easier said than done…for the man who has everything. Meanwhile, Eve returns to visit and Vanessa helps the family realize the importance of their long-standing holiday family traditions in the all-new “The Gift of the Mike Guy” episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, Dec. 14 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. There are a couple of clear things worth noting here beyond just the story. For starters, the title is a clear play on The Gift of the Magi, so we will see whether or not there are more echoes of that story throughout the episode. It’s somewhat of a sitcom tradition to do takes on popular Christmas literature — given that they often have to do so many Christmas episodes over their run, they have to get creative.
Also, the Christmas episode airing on December 14 does confirm that “Three for the Road,” the road-trip episode originally scheduled to air this year, is going to be pushed until 2019. Why move it? It may just be for promotional reasons, or because Fox thought that some upcoming episodes (including the next one airing on December 7) made more sense to put on the air right now.
