Is Empire new tonight on Fox? The season 5 stories that lie ahead
Alas, that’s just not something that is happening this year. As for the reason why, it’s probably in part because the World Series was wrapped before a Game 7. Had Empire been preempted earlier this year for a second time due to baseball, there’s a chance that Fox may have put one on the air tonight to make up for it. That would’ve enabled them to air the fall finale at the same point in the year regardless.
In the end, isn’t it probably for the best that there isn’t a new episode tonight? The night before Thanksgiving is often where shows die a slow ratings death. There just isn’t all that much out there when it comes to a pool of available viewers, as the majority of people are off somewhere traveling, spending time with family, or trying to prep some food for the following day (we currently have out turkey defrosting in our fridge that we got at .37 cents a pound!).
Now that we’ve spelled out why there is no Empire tonight (and also how much we love a good deal on turkey), we are going to go ahead and talk for a moment about the aforementioned fall finale. It is airing on Wednesday, December 5, meaning that there are two more episodes that you’re going to have a chance to check out this season. Hopefully, those two will be very much worth their ratings gold and offer some great entertainment to go along with it. The synopsis below offers up some teases, and also makes it seem as though there could be some big relationship revelations along the way:
The financial security of the Lyon family is on the line as their LFM showcase quickly approaches. Kai’s (guest star Toby Onwumere) research for an expose on Empire uncovers some dirty activity within the company and causes conflict with Jamal. Meanwhile, Hakeem and Tiana finally reach an agreement on how best to move forward with their relationship, Andre struggles with his decision to let a new love interest in and Kingsley strikes a deal with Giselle in the all-new “Had It From My Father” fall finale episode of EMPIRE airing Wednesday, Dec. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Could we see a big character death in the fall finale? That’s certainly something that we’re anticipating at the moment, largely because this is Empire and death has been a huge part of what the series has been teasing for most of the season. If it doesn’t pay off entirely in the fall finale, it could at some other point down the road.
