Tonight, we ended up seeing the idol nullifier come into play and for the most part, we do think it was an entertaining vote. We do wonder about the fairness of it like we did the first time that we ever saw the Outcast tribe in the game; yet, this is what you sign up for. Expect the unexpected at almost ANY time.

What is so interesting now is that we had two Goliaths flip on their own tribe, clearly paranoid that something crazy was going to happen. They were interested mostly in protecting their own hide, and we don’t blame them; yet, having votes cast for Angelina did NOT make her happy. They have to try to bring people back together if possible.

Now that the split between the tribes is 5-5, it does seem now like there’s more of a chance for people to scatter and things to go in all sorts of directions. Angelina may try to join the David tribe, but a conflict between Gabby and Carl could end up imploding them. Carl is someone who is probably going to be in danger soon, mostly because it doesn’t seem like he has the social bonds of some other people in the game. Gabby, for example, seems to be pretty good with Alison and Alec, and that could help her a little bit more down the road. We still think that Gabby is, by far, the most dangerous person in this game — mostly because she can be very insistent and also because she’s not being properly estimated as a social threat when she’s a big one. She constantly plays with an underdog mentality and that benefits her.

The post-merge game for this season has, at least so far, been one of the best in the history of Survivor. We don’t want to put too much pressure on it given that we’re still fairly early on, but we do think that there’s a whole lot more potential still for great things moving forward. Imagine the blindsides that could still happen…
