God Friended Me episode 9 preview: The quest to find a chess legend

God friended me

God Friended Me episode 9 is arriving on CBS next week, and the fact of that alone is certainly reason enough to celebrate. We haven’t gotten to the point in the season where there is a huge hiatus coming yet! Rest assured that this is coming before too long, but we’re at least not at that point for another couple of weeks, at least.

This upcoming episode is entitled “King’s Gambit” and over the course of it, you’re going to have a chance to see the team working alongside Ray Nicolette in order to help find a missing chess star. The idea of a chess player going into hiding is hardly new; maybe this story is based in part around Bobby Fischer and what happened with him.

Below, CarterMatt has the full God Friended Me episode 9 synopsis with a little bit more information all about what’s coming up next:

“King’s Gambit” – The team reunites with private detective Ray Nicolette (Brent Sexton) when Miles is sent a friend suggestion for a chess star who vanished after losing a huge match to his rival 10 years ago, on GOD FRIENDED ME, Sunday, Nov. 25 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/8:00-9:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

As for what’s coming up beyond this, here’s what we hope: A chance to dive into some of the relationships at the heart of the show, especially with Miles. This episode is moving us beyond Thanksgiving and with that, we’re going to have a chance to enter the holidays. This is, of course, the season of giving — it’s an opportunity to see these people take stock in a few of the different things that matter the most to them. Beyond just that, it’s a chance for them to figure out whether or not there is anything about their lives that they would like to change before the new year.

Given that God Friended Me has already been picked up for a full season, there is absolutely going to be an opportunity to dive into some of these stories further with a few of these characters. We’ll get to see the end results of some of their emotional journeys and, beyond just that, see if these people are anywhere closer to solving the God mystery. We’ve said this before and we absolutely stand by it a thousand percent. There’s really not that big of a reason for our viewership to be dependent on getting answers. This is more about the journey and the relationships that we see form along the way. This is what really matters in the quest to see these characters help others.
