Outlander season 4 episode 4 preview: The search for ‘Common Ground’

Take for example, Jamie and Claire Fraser. In the aftermath of what happened tonight, these two are trying to find a way for themselves far from most civilization. They are out in the wilderness without all that much in the way of support, and then also trying to determine their relationship with local Native American communities. This episode offers up an opportunity for greater understanding — though, beyond that, also hopefully a chance to also expand the world a little bit further, as well.

Claire and Jamie struggle to make a home for themselves in the backcountry of North Carolina during the period of colonial America at yet another turning point in history — the cusp of the American Revolution.
Moving into the start of next week’s episode, the good news for Jamie and Claire is that they will have identified the proper setting for Fraser’s Ridge! They have a plot of land now that they love, but at the same time, they also have to try and figure out now how to call said land their home given that there are many threats that will probably come their way.
As for what’s coming for Roger and Brianna, let’s make it clear that their own personal story is far from over. While their relationship seemed to fizzle at the end of tonight’s episode, there are opportunities still for the two to figure things out more over time. Of course, there are some other pressing matters that also need attending to … and that includes the status of Claire in the past. Roger will call Brianna up with some important news in this episode regarding her mother, and this may in turn cause Bree to think carefully when it comes to her future. Book readers likely know what is coming here already, but it is the beginning of an epic, emotional story for this character that is going to have a wide array of highs and lows.
