This Is Us season 3 episode 8 preview: ‘18,615’ and Thanksgiving

This Is Us season 3

For all of this interested in This Is Us season 3 episode 8, much of it starts with a title: “18,615.” What in the world does that mean? The first thing that is worth noting is that there is a comma intentionally put in there. That negates this being some sort of tease about a zip code — there is a zip code of 18615 and it actually is in Pennsylvania. It’s just not anywhere close to Pittsburgh, the primary setting for at least some of the past.

So where are we going to see the story go next? This is a holiday themed episode, but knowing this particular family, it is not going to be altogether conventional one. You will see them celebrate Thanksgiving across different eras, and that could include one that features Miguel. Apparently, he was a part of the Thanksgiving dinner table before Jack even died, which may have made things even more awkward later on once he and Rebecca were actually together. (Remember that there is a big Miguel episode coming at some point this season, one where we are hopefully going to get a chance to understand this character and his backstory a little bit more.)

Below, the This Is Us season 3 episode 8 synopsis offers up a little bit more insight as to just what is going to be coming up next:

11/20/2018 (09:00PM – 10:01PM) (Tuesday) : The Pearsons have an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. In the past, Jack, Rebecca and the big three spend Thanksgiving with Miguel. TV-14.

The Thanksgiving with Miguel on the surface may be interesting, but the one in the present certainly has some of its own merits. For example, what’s happening with Kevin in the midst of all of this? Is he still out in Vietnam at the time of the holiday? If that is the case, it definitely does feel like that qualifies as unconventional and then some. For Toby and Kate, they are clearly still going through some issues with Toby’s depression and her pregnancy. Finally, when it comes to Beth and Randall they are working together now on the campaign, but does that actually mean that some of their recent problems are a thing of the past? We don’t think Beth will be able to move past being fired immediately and that will and should be something that sticks with her for a little while.

One way or another, this episode may be emotional — but probably not in the same way that some of the other stuff in Vietnam has been in the past.
