Timeless Movie: First poster features stockings, holiday cheer

As we approach the Timeless movie arriving on NBC next month, there is quite a bit to be excited for! This episode will feature an epic quest to save Rufus, echoes of the future, and apparently along the way some sort of Christmas celebration. It may end up being the series finale for the fan-favorite series, but all signs point towards it ending in a perfect way.

For now, we are at least happy to share a poster. The new image above (first posted by Entertainment Tonight) is of a similar art style to what we’ve seen from the series in the past, and it seems to be almost the bunker version of a fireplace with stockings hung from the chimney with care. Of course, since the Time Team don’t exactly have a chimney, they have to make do with whatever they have. You’ve got her a Christmas tree, some ornaments, Christmas lights, and even a stocking for Rufus … even if it’s empty at the moment, given that he’s currently not among the living and all. Hopefully, that changes by the end of the movie.

Given that this two-hour event is airing on NBC come Thursday, December 20, it makes a reasonable amount of sense to give the special a holiday theme and to fully embrace the season. This could also set Timeless up in a unique position where, if this really works well, it could come back with some other specials in the future. We don’t think that you can write out any possibility and the cast seems to all love working together. We’ve said a few times over now that the ideal here would be getting to get a third season in the aftermath of this airing, but if that’s not possible, why not go ahead and deliver more movies down the road? You could follow a model that is similar to Psych, which seems to want to do a movie every couple of years. (There’s no guarantee of another one for that show, but it does seem to be coming if actor interviews are any indication.)

For now, we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. We’re excited that a Timeless movie is happening and with that, let’s just wait and see what happens down the road. We’ve got a feeling that this movie in the end will be very much satisfying and worth the wait.
