Jane the Virgin season 5 moving to Wednesdays, Black Lightning to Mondays
Let’s start things off here with Jane the Virgin and its fifth and final season — there is some good news, at least in that the series is moving off of Friday nights. The Gina Rodriguez show will premiere on Wednesdays following the run of All American in that timeslot. This means potentially a slightly better total viewership for the series for it’s final season. Riverdale is at least a solid lead-in for it.
The bad news here comes for fans of at least a couple of superhero shows. Roswell, New Mexico is going to be airing on Tuesday nights, and with that Black Lightning is going to shift over to Mondays following Arrow. In turn, what that means is that Legends of Tomorrow is going to go on a long midseason hiatus and will come back later on the spring. Does this confirm further that Legends of Tomorrow remains the most frequently-shafted show in the Arrowverse? At the moment, it definitely does feel that way especially since for us it’s our favorite.

9:00 – Crazy Ex Girlfriend midseason return date
Tuesday, January 15
8:00 – The Flash midseason return date
9:00 – Roswell, New Mexico series premiere
Giving this new Roswell a premiere date after The Flash does bode very well for its future. This does represent it getting to come on after the biggest show on the network, and it’s a sign of good faith.
Wednesday, January 16
8:00 – Riverdale midseason return date
9:00 – All American midseason return date
Thursday, January 17
8:00 – Supernatural midseason return date
Friday, January 18
8:00 – Dynasty midseason return date
Sunday, January 20
8:00 – Supergirl midseason return date
9:00 – Charmed midseason return date
Monday, January 21
8:00 – Arrow midseason return date
9:00 – Black Lightning midseason return date
Moving Black Lightning off of Tuesdays isn’t the greatest thing for the series ever, but clearly The CW thinks that they’ve gotten as much juice as they can out of it airing after The Flash. The long Legends of Tomorrow hiatus is troublesome, but we do think there’s room for at least one more season of the show after this one. Hopefully, someone over at the network agrees — this is still the best one that they have going for them, especially with John Constantine now serving as a part of the team.
Thursday, January 24
9:00 – Legacies midseason return date
Wondering why Legacies is returning later than most of the other series on The CW? A big part of it is probably due to the fact that The CW wants to use January 17 to repeat the premiere of Roswell, New Mexico. That is not confirmed, but at least for now that remains a good guess.
