NCIS: New Orleans season 5: Should the Angel of Death appear again?
We’ve mentioned in a recent video (watch below, subscribe for more, and be sure to check out our official playlist) that we think that this angel is not actually a supernatural entity. Instead, what we think we’re dealing with here is an instance of something that exists within Pride’s head. Our feeling is that this is a part of his conscience that thrives on fear and insecurity. It is that nagging reminder to him that he could be coming over to the other side if he makes too many mistakes. The “see you soon” line in the premiere was his conscience reminding him that this is far from the last time he’ll be putting himself in danger.
Basically, seeing the angel turn up again serves as a way in which to ensure that Pride’s ghosts from the past don’t completely go away. We do think that it’s something that this series does need to continually provide.
As for when it could be, we certainly don’t need it to be at any point in the reasonably-near future. Later on this season may be a good time to bring back the construct — it’s something that is important almost as a reminder to Pride, and to viewers, that this is a part of him that won’t go away anymore. Granted, we also do understand the sentiment that these scenes are a little bit weird for a show that otherwise, likes to dwell within some element of relative realism.
