Supergirl season 4 photo: First look at Manchester Black!

So, who is this character? Well, what we know about him at present is that he’s a known antihero from within the DC comics world — he at times will side with the good guys, but there is no guarantee of that. He often goes by the beat of his own drum, and we’re really more surprised that there aren’t more characters out there within the Arrowverse like this. There certainly are some, but not too many within Supergirl. Lena Luthor is probably the closing thing that we have to that, though she doesn’t have a costume or an alter ego at the moment.
Manchester Black is seen in the photo above alongside J’onn J’onzz, so it is pretty clear that, one way or another, these two are going to work together. Yet, at some point, we do wonder what J’onn’s larger role this season is going to be. Given his recent departure from the DEO he’s moved into a place where his role on the show is a little bit more nebulous. That’s something that he clearly wants, but it remains to be seen just how that is going to shake out.
If nothing else, though, we’re glad to see that Supergirl is doing whatever it can to tap into DC lore. The more of this that we end up getting, and the better off we think that this season is going to ultimately be as a whole. The more of these that we get down the line, the better off this show is going to be.
