Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 teaser: NBC’s campaign begins now

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5

For anyone out there wondering just how much NBC is going to promote Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6, we’ve already got a sense of it!

Below, you can see one of the latest teasers via the new season, one that features many of the cast members engaging in some various hijinks. While there’s no substantial teaser of what lies ahead here, there also doesn’t really need to be. This promo mostly just exists as a reminder to people that the show is no longer on Fox, and is at a home now that actually makes a tremendous amount more sense.

Why is NBC a better home? It starts with the fact that they already own it from a studio perspective and they have much more of a financial incentive to want to keep it around. While this show and Last Man Standing are extremely different, they both are good examples of series that were canceled, but may be both better off where they are. Studio ownership means a lot since it incentivizes a network to really go hard with a promotional push. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is going to get that, and we’ve got a feeling that the Fox cancellation will probably embolden the writers more than ever to take some big creative risks and try to have fun with things. There has to be some sort of recognition at the moment that this is a season that almost didn’t happen and they want to bring their best because of it. There is no guarantee, after all, that there will be a season 7 — we’re optimistic about it, but it’s the sort of thing that won’t become clear until we start to see some of the ratings. It could depend a lot on the show’s timeslot and whether or not they can really build some more avenues to bring in viewers. (Having Andy Samberg host SNL in the future could be a great way to make that happen.)
