For NCIS: New Orleans, he is playing a role of a military doctor and longtime friend of Dwayne Pride who comes and offers him advice in the aftermath of the shooting at the end of last season. Owens appeared on CBS This Morning today in order to discuss the role further, in addition to explaining how he felt some of the media exploited his story for attention. His reality is that he’s always wanted to be taken seriously as an actor and wants to continue to have great gigs in the future, and doesn’t want anyone to think via his Trader Joe’s gig that he has somehow given up on his life’s work.
Owens did have nothing but wonderful things to say about his time on NCIS: New Orleans, making it clear that the cast and crew “were so nice to me … an immediate family.” He also made it clear that he would be more than happy to recur on the series if it was asked of him to do so; doesn’t any actor love to recur, given that it means a good stream of work? We have to think so? The only thing better is being a series regular, and that could be a job that comes his way down the road. (We wouldn’t be shocked if he gets an offer or two via pilot season.) He does also have a role coming up on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Haves Nots.
