Supergirl season 4 episode 3 sneak peek: See Ben Lockwood before Agent Liberty

Who was Ben? Long before putting on the mask, he was actually a fairly mild-mannered guy and not someone who wanted to see harm done to aliens at all. As a matter of fact, the sneak peek below gives you a sense as to what he was willing to do to protect one with spikes in his arms; yet, in the process of doing so, the alien accidentally shot him. He didn’t mean to, but soon after that happened the alien was attacked by some early anti-alien protestors. Supergirl eventually shows up to help with the situation, while Ben is tended to shortly after that.
Is this the moment Ben came to hate aliens? It’s hard to imagine that; instead, we feel like that is a moment coming a little further down the road in this episode. This is just a moment that showed him how dangerous aliens can be, even when they are trying to do no harm to anyone. Many of them are not trying to be humans and just want to live a normal life on Earth.
One interesting little production note in here: You don’t actually see Melissa Benoist’s face as Supergirl flies in. A part of the reason for this is because this episode filmed early this summer, while she was still working on Broadway. She may have a few notable moments in it still, but this is going to be very heavy on Agent Liberty backstory. That’s something that Sam Witwer, who plays the character, confirmed in a recent interview.
