Blue Bloods season 9 episode 5 sneak peek: Anthony’s date disaster
Why is that? The sneak peek seems to offer up some evidence. Anthony has been dating using a popular “hookup app” (as Erin calls it), and after one particular date night gone wrong, he ends up losing his wallet and also his Rolex watch. Whoever dated him seemed to do so with the explicit purpose of taking his stuff and then bolting. It’s an embarrassing situation for him to be in, and that seems to be why he doesn’t want to pursue the matter further — he doesn’t even want Erin to see the picture of the woman he met on the app!
Much of this storyline could boil down to Anthony not wanting to be laughed at or ridiculed for trying to dive into the dating world and getting screwed over as a result of it. He knows that if Erin pursues the case, a lot of people are going to find out about it. She cares about Anthony as a colleague and as a friend, and that’s why she is eager to ensure that he is able to get back some of what he loses. Yet, he may feel like if the case is pursued, he’ll lose an element of dignity no matter what happens.
Of course, what we do find ourselves wondering about when it comes to this case is this: Why did Anthony bother to tell Erin about this at all unless he actually wanted it to be pursued on some level? He could have very easily kept it to himself if he felt like it was a better course of action. (Granted, he may have just felt like he had to tell someone about what happened and since Erin is a friend, that was a good option — even if he knew she would try to make him pursue it.)
