Station 19 season 2 episode 5 preview: Are Ben, Miranda staying together?

Is there a real cause for concern going into Station 19 season 2 episode 5 for Ben and Miranda Bailey? We do think that there could be, and we’ve been worried about that really for a while. We know that she’s been concerned about his job and from a creative standpoint, they are also on two different shows now. It’s harder to write stories for these two when they don’t see each other all that often.

Do we still root for the two of them to be together? Absolutely, but we recognize that Grey’s Anatomy is a world where bad things do happen to couples and split up — we’ve seen it enough over the years with Cristina and Owen and April and Jackson — maybe Callie and Arizona are on a better path now, even if we’re not getting to see all of it.

Below, the Station 19 season 2 episode 5 synopsis offers up a little bit more news when it comes to what’s ahead:

Captain Sullivan continues his efforts to bring together the fire and police departments by hosting a training seminar that does not go as planned. Meanwhile, Ben and Miranda have an honest conversation about their marriage, leading Miranda to make a tough decision about their future.

We certainly hope that this episode does offer up a chance to really see more of Ben and Bailey’s relationship, and of course the training under Captain Sullivan is something that we’ve seen quite a bit of to date already. He is someone who clearly likes things done his way or the highway, but the main twist here is that nothing is altogether working out for him just yet. This station isn’t responding to him because it doesn’t feel like a family … and he doesn’t feel like a part of it.
