Could a Power spin-off happen at Starz? Latest evidence
According to a report from Deadline today, Starz parent company Lionsgate has inked a new three-year deal with show executive producer Courtney A. Kemp on a wide array of different projects, including potential spin-offs for Power, which has become one of the network’s most-successful series ever. Given that the current series is not expected to last for many more years (it’s clear that we’re closer to the end of the series than the beginning), it makes sense to look somewhat down the road. We’d watch a legal series featuring Joe Proctor, but we feel like it’s possible that the series could go younger and eventually do something about Tariq provided that this is something that they were altogether interested in. (Of course, much of this is dependent heavily on whatever the producers have planned for the rest of Power.)

In a statement confirming the new deal, Lionsgate TV Group Chairman Kevin Beggs had the following to say about the deal:
“Courtney is a one of a kind talent and we couldn’t be more excited about this unique and exclusive deal … She’s an exceptional producer, incredible showrunner and artist, and we’re proud that she chose Lionsgate as her creative incubator. We look forward to the bold, original and provocative content she will offer our programming slates.”
This deal comes in the midst of Power season 6 production, and it also comes after fellow Power executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson got a new deal of his own. These two are largely responsible for getting the show off the ground, and it makes sense to try to run them for many additional years to come.
