The Walking Dead season 9 episode 3 ratings (finally) level off
Sunday night’s new episode of the show generated overall a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and, to go along with that, more than five million viewers. You can view some more discussion about this in the new video below; if you want more great discussion, subscribe for more right now!
While the numbers are down ever-so-slightly in the demo, they do mark a slight improvement in total viewers over what we saw the week prior. For a show like The Walking Dead, we really do feel like just about any news is good news so long as the numbers are not following … especially since this leveling-off in the ratings may be rather temporary. It’s certainly possible that we could end up seeing things decline significantly after Rick dies (if, of course, he dies), so this show needs to take the little victories here while it can.
What we do wonder at the moment is simply this: How many diehard fans are there of The Walking Dead out there who will actually keeping watching even after Andrew Lincoln leaves? We understand that there are plenty of people who will leave, but the reality here is that social media has a tendency to skew actual numbers. The casual viewers of The Walking Dead are the ones who will carry the day following Rick’s departure, and those are not the people we actually tend to hear about. These are people we’ll get a little more information/insight on in the weeks to come. (Our feeling is that Rick will probably exit in the first batch of episodes, but that is based mostly on some of the reports that are out there about how long Lincoln is planning to stick around.)
We’ll be back next week with a little bit more in terms of The Walking Dead and its numbers…
