Chicago Fire season 7 episode 5 video: How to stop a trailer-park fire

Chicago Fire season 7

One of the challenges that comes with a show like Chicago Fire is that week in and week out, you’re basically having to confront different fires and make every one of them interesting. Seven years into a show, that’s a little bit more of a challenge. Things have a tendency to start to blend together and you have a hard time differentiating one fire from the next.

So how do the producers figure out how to deal with that? The simple answer is that they concentrate much of their energy in order to ensure that every single fire feels a little bit different. Not all of them are giant building fires. In the case of the sneak peek below, we’re looking at one set at a trailer park. The team does everything in their power to ensure that there is a path cleared in order to help a woman in desperate need … and it’s also clear in the process that this is far from your ordinary rescue. Severide basically has to cut a hole into the mobile home in order for Case to go in and rescue the person trapped inside.

This preview subtly does also give you more of a sense of how Ritter and Herrmann are doing in their respective new positions. They’ve each had to transition into their new roles and for Herrmann in particular, it’s been a long time coming. He’s deserved an opportunity to have more responsibility for a while … even if Gorsch isn’t happy about it and is probably going to do just about everything that he can to make lives a living hell because of it.
