Bodyguard season 2 very much likely as Richard Madden series hits Netflix
When the show aired on BBC One in Britain earlier this year, it shattered records as one of the most-popular new series in years. That laid the groundwork for there to be eventually a season 2 renewal; after all, it makes little sense for there not to be one given the massive success of the series to date.
So, is said renewal coming? Signs point towards it — and they also point towards it happening sooner rather than later. There has never been any indication from the BBC that there is an intention in canceling the series; personally, we’ve felt that the wait in announcing the renewal is due mostly to the network trying to ensure that they have all of the proper ducks in a row and the perfect story to move things forward.
Just look at things in this particular context — if Bodyguard season 2 is rushed and is nowhere near as good as the first go-around, what that effectively means is that its chances at even more seasons down the road are cut off. This is a show that needs to remain strong to have a long life, and if that means that we have to wait a little bit longer between seasons in order to check out more, we have to be okay with it. There are a number of reasons why there may need to be some time between seasons, but it’s hard to get into a number of details here without also giving something away about the story.
