The Conners episode 3 preview: Halloween and banned costumes
Well, if you love these characters and you love Halloween, there is a good chance that you will love this one. Basically, it’s a chance to see the gang celebrate the holiday, albeit with some challenges given that a significant debate sparks up over one costume in particular. It’s one that could tear the entire family depart depending on some of their sentiments towards it.

It’s Halloween, the favorite time of year for the Conners, but an email from the school banning certain costumes, including Mark’s, sets off an argument between Dan and Darlene. Jackie introduces someone new to the family at the Halloween party and insists that Dan vet him, only to immediately wish that she hadn’t.
What the family is going through within this episode is a pretty-clear reflection of stuff that many parents are going through all over the world right now. Remember here that there are many different schools that have put restrictions on all costumes in general, let alone ones that could be perceived as controversial or dangerous. It’s just the sort of thing that is often regulated in this climate. Of course, costume debates also go beyond just school — they impact families in a lot of different ways as just about anyone and everyone has differing opinions on what is right and wrong with them. It’s something that plays a pretty fundamental part in the story as much as anything else.
By the end of this episode, we imagine that there will be a resolution to this story … even if it is a temporary one. If nothing else, we do think that this is something that may be picked up and addressed a little bit further in Halloweens to come … provided of course that The Conners makes it there.
