Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 8 details: Monica Raymund directs!

There are a couple of things worth noting about Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 8. It starts with the news of Monica Raymund directing! The former Chicago Fire star is working elsewhere within the Dick Wolf universe now, at least for one episode. (Raymund did reprise her role as Dawson on Chicago Fire a little bit earlier this season — she also has a new project coming up down the line, so it’s clear that she is eagerly pursuing a number of different artistic pursuits.)

11/08/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : A waitress from a trendy New York restaurant is sexually assaulted at an after-hours VIP party. Starring Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino and Philip Winchester. Guest starring Luke Kirby (Andrew Liebowitz), Genevieve Angelson (Kayla Morgan), Jacob Pitts (ADA Hodges), Tiffany Villarin (Lizzy Walczak) and Anthony Chatmon (Darius Moore). Typically, NBC does not release much information about their upcoming episodes; this is clearly no exception to the rule. It’s another horrific case of sexual assault and it’s a case that Benson and the rest of the SVU team is going to have to get to the bottom of to the best of their ability. Given just how crowded and confusing VIP parties can be, we do imagine that getting reliable testimony could be a challenge. Hopefully, someone proves to be an ally, and whoever the assaulter proves to be is not someone so poisonous and powerful that it makes this case almost impossible.

Hopefully, this episode opens the door for more notable directors — if nothing else, we would certainly be open to seeing Raymund coming back on the show in this capacity. We’d also say the same thing about the One Chicago franchise at large.
