The Last Ship season 5 episode 8 preview: Chandler on the brink

Last Ship season 5 poster

Moving into The Last Ship season 5 episode 8, it feels pretty darn clear that Chandler is in a pretty devastating position.

Why? Well, Gustavo and his team have devised a plan to infiltrate one of the Navy’s most-sacred of places in Command, and with that, it’s possible that many important members of the military could die in the process. Right when the Nathan James crew thought that they were making headway in Cuba and at sea, there was something brewing underneath the surface. With the help of Kelsey, it feels pretty clear that things are about to go from bad to worse for some of the good guys.

Basically, we’re not facing an old-school underdog situation for Chandler and the rest of the crew moving into episode 8 next week. One wrong move could mean another significant loss of life. He’s going to have to think quickly, and think smart, in the event he wants to get his people out of here in one piece.

Below, The Last Ship season 5 episode 8 synopsis offers up some more news when it comes to what’s ahead:

With a devastating hostage situation occurring back home, Chandler must devise the perfect plan to avoid losing everything.

By the end of this episode we do think that we’re going to see the continued evolution of this series, which could mean setting the stage for another epic battle down the road. We only have a handful of episodes to go, and that means that we better be building up towards some sort of epic conclusion. We want to see the heroes win, and beyond that, we want to think that there is some hope for the United States. It doesn’t need to be utopia, but an imperfect society is still very much something to hope for.
