Doctor Who season 11 episode 4 preview: The spider episode

Going into Doctor Who season 11 episode 4, there is one question that we have to ponder: Why did it have to spiders?

Seriously.

Next week’s installment is carrying with it the title of “Arachnids in the UK,” and at the moment, we feel reasonably confident in saying that this is the one episode we may be at least reasonably worried about. We’re no fan of spiders, even fake ones that pop up on a science-fiction series. It’s kind of like a lot of other people out there are scared of clowns or snakes. Yet, the thing to remember here is that Doctor Who is a series meant for kids, and with that in mind, we don’t exactly foresee this being one of the scariest episodes of all time.

Below, the Doctor Who season 11 episode 4 synopsis offers up some additional insight when it comes to the series:

‘Something’s happening with the spiders in this city.’ The Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan find their way back to Yorkshire – and Yaz’s family – only to find something is stirring amidst the eight-legged arachnid population of Sheffield.

This episode could be everything from fascinating to horrifying depending on how it works out, but we have to think it’s going to be different from the standard scary-spider episode that we’ve seen from other shows. After all, one of the big strengths for Doctor Who comes courtesy of its creativity. This is a series that loves to keep you guessing and, in turn, loves to put its people in new precarious positions. If anyone among The Doctor’s crew has a devastating case of arachnophobia, this could be a tough episode for them to get through.

We will certainly say this: Totally, Doctor Who is trying a little bit of everything this season. Just remember that on tonight’s episode, the focus is on something entirely different in Rosa Parks and a trip into the past.
