Downton Abbey movie filming still going strong; new BTS photo

It’s been a little while since there were any major headlines when it comes to the Downton Abbey movie coming next year. Of course, there is a pretty good reason for that — production is happening! It’s rather hard to dish too much on anything in the process of the project being filmed. Beyond just that, though, there may be a hesitancy to share too much in fear of spoilers getting out … which nobody really wants, when the dust settles.

Of course, there’s no problem in giving out a small behind-the-scenes tease along the way! The new image below comes via series star Elizabeth McGovern (who plays Cora on the series). It doesn’t give anything away about the story, but it’s a nice reminder that work is being done, even if you don’t hear much about it.

In so many ways still, the idea of a Downton Abbey movie is the most perfect sort of blessing. It’s not something that we really imagined coming to fruition a couple of years ago; sure, there were many proclamations that it was going to happen in due time, but that’s something that many creators and actors say about their former shows. Rarely is there a time in which the entire cast and crew are available at the same time, once their contracts are expired, that it can actually work. Luckily, this is one of those said times where it happened. We imagine that this movie will be an update on the lives of many of your favorite characters and contain a fantastic story; we don’t really think that there’s a need all that much for closure, largely because the original movie offered enough of that for satisfaction. This is just about getting a nice dose of Downton comfort food via a great cast and crew. Hopefully, it lives up to all expectations.
