Where is Jack on MacGyver season 3? Will George Eads return?
While we did not see George Eads over the course of tonight’s episode, you will see him return in full swing when the show returns for its Halloween / Dia de Muertos episode next week. It absolutely was strange to not have him around, but this is the sort of circumstance that allows some of the other actors to step up and deliver. It’s similar to when Scott Caan is not on Hawaii Five-0 — there are opportunities for other actors to take a step up and deliver some great material. It’s not the sort of thing you really expect going into some episodes, especially since Jack is a regular character and you’re used to seeing him every week.
For now, rest assured that the man will be back sooner rather than later. Maybe it’s possible that there are some other episodes without Jack in the future, but that’s something to take on a case-by-case basis for now. We’re treating this like the Scott Caan / Five-0 situation for now.
Did we enjoy the remainder of season 3 episode 4 otherwise? Certainly, given that this offered up a chance to give us some memorable scenes between Riley and Mac, an individual pairing that we don’t get anywhere near as much of (and we certainly do know that there are people out there who ‘ship the two of them). If seeing these two characters together is a trend that continues, we’re going to be more than happy with that. We’re not saying that it’s a Jack substitute, but it is nice to see MacGyver play around a little bit with character pairings. If Jack does turn out to be absent in some future episode, hopefully the writers take that as a challenge to play around with some of the character pairings and missions once more.
