The Last Kingdom season 3 promo: First look at what’s ahead!

The Last Kingdom

For everyone out there eagerly awaiting some new footage on The Last Kingdom season 3, the wait is officially over!

Today, Netflix revealed some new footage for what’s coming up on the period drama series, and it gives you a sense that the battles are only going to escalate from what we saw the past two years. There are warnings about the fate of Wessex, plans of conquest, lots of screaming, and of course bloodshed. LOTS of bloodshed.

All of this is very exciting, even if it doesn’t do a whole lot to resolve the biggest question that is on the minds of many at the moment: When is this series coming back? It’s been a long time since season 2, but we’ve got a feeling that some of the hardest parts of the waiting process are almost at an end now. If we had to guess, we would say that The Last Kingdom will more than likely return to the air over the next month and a half — we don’t see it premiering right in the midst of the holiday season, and the plan has long been in order to launch this show before the end of the year.

Now, we just hope that there is a fairly sizable promotional campaign for The Last Kingdom given that this is clearly a series deserving of that. We want to see it get a season 4 and last for however long there is enough story to make it work. In between this show and Vikings both premiering in the coming months, we do think we’re getting near a golden age for this particular brand of entertainment. In the case of Vikings, we do at least have some sort of confirmation that the show is sticking around beyond just the upcoming batch of episodes. It’s already been filming its sixth season for a rather long stretch of time now.

Now if we can just get a confirmation on when this show is actually airing we’d be rather happy campers!
