American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 7: What’s next in ‘Traitor’?

What could be coming up on American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 7? Unsurprisingly, FX is keeping things quiet.

At the moment, what we know is that the title for this episode is “Traitor” — which is an interesting word to throw around in relation to some of these characters. After all, in order to feel betrayed, don’t you have to have some sort of conscience in order for that to happen? Trying to establish the real emotional purpose of this episode should be one of the challenges for the writers.

Yet, with this being said, we do also wonder if there is a sense of liberation about it. Many longtime fans of this franchise have been waiting around eagerly in order to see more representation from Murder House, or the return of Jessica Lange as a major cast member. That seems to be over at this point, since tonight’s episode was a real opportunity to dive into that a little bit more.

At this point, our suggestion for Apocalypse is simply this: Focus on the long-term narrative and find a way to wrap things up as cohesively as possible. This is a show that has an enormous challenge before it largely because so much of the storytelling that it does is so ambitious. It’s fantastic that the writers were able to figure out a way to incorporate as many different people from the past as they have, but that of course means lofty expectations. You’re raising the bar for how exactly you want to wrap things up.

As for some odds and ends behind the show, we know that Evan Peters is going to be directing one upcoming episode this season. There are some specifics that are still to be revealed there … but you have to imagine that everything coming up is going to be as crazy as humanly possible.
