Property Brothers … as a sitcom? Fox developing Drew, Jonathan Scott story
Now, you may as well go ahead and add a sitcom to the list. According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Fox is in the process of developing a new series based on the twins’ memoir It Takes Two: Our Story. The idea is about two twin brothers who decide to enter the real-estate business together, realizing that they could be a force to be reckoned with as a duo. The project, which has a script commitment, already has a writing team in fellow twins Josh and Jon Silberman (of Living Biblically fame).
From one vantage point, it’s easy to react to this by saying that the idea of the Property Brothers having a show together is all sorts of ridiculous. Then, you look at things another way and realize that there are some elements of this that make at least some sort of sense. These brothers have mass-market appeal to appeal to all walks of life, and that is something that Fox is really going for with some of their comedies at the moment. There’s a chance that this show could actually appeal to a rather-large audience that far surpasses the average episode of Property Brothers, which are probably watched by way more viewers than you initially see in the ratings. This is one of those shows that you just store up on your DVR and burn through on a rainy day.
Ultimately, it’s far too early to know if this show ends up on the air — it doesn’t even have a pilot order yet! Come back over the next few months, as we plan to have a little bit more information on it as news starts to trickle in a little bit more. For now, Fox only has a pair of sitcoms on their schedule in Last Man Standing alongside The Cool Kids.
