Vikings season 5 teaser highlights Ivar’s reign — and it’s crazy
For starters, you have that video caption below about the seer — a prophecy that certainly may make you think a little bit about Lagertha and what’s going to happen to her. Given that this is a character who has cheated death on a number of occasions already, it makes perfect sense that the Seer’s prediction that she will die by the hands of one of Ragnar’s sons may be coming up soon. It’s easy to think that Ivar will be her undoing, but wouldn’t it be interesting if it was someone else? Ubbe? What about an accident at the hands of Bjorn? There are a lot of possibilities.
Beyond just Lagertha’s fate, there are some other things that are going to be a big component to the upcoming batch of episodes — most notably, getting to see more of what Ivar is like as a leader. Odds are, he’s going to cause a great deal of violent trouble — he’s relentless in what he does and based on where we are in the story now, this could be the most prominent batch of episodes for this character just yet. He hasn’t faced very many losses (really only one battle), so his ego is likely out of control – add to that him becoming the ruler of Kattegat and he’s going to be intolerable.
All in all, just be prepared for almost anything in the second half of the season. While this is a series based in history, there is some room still for flexibility and for some crazy things to transpire. We know that there are some surprises that will be coming, and then also the not-so-surprising-but-still-welcome return of Rollo to the series. He will have one of the most prominent roles that he’s had in a while when he makes his grand return in the episodes to come. We are still hoping that once Vikings decides to wrap up that we can get a Rollo spin off!
Based on when Vikings is returning, we do anticipate it being a staple of much of your holiday programming — even if it has nothing to do with either Christmas or New Year’s. We just hope that it finds a way to live up to some of the expectations that we have for it.
