The Rookie episode 2 preview: What lies ahead in ‘Crash Course’?
Want to know what’s coming up on The Rookie episode 2? The title here is “Crash Course,” and in many ways it’s another attempt at a first impression.
Take, for example, with John Nolan. He now understands that he has a different sort of responsibility as a cop. It’s something that he couldn’t figure out before actually hitting the streets in order to help people. He has to get used to the day-to-day grind, and beyond that the different treatment that is going to come his way as an older officer just starting out. Not everyone is going to be altogether interested in giving him a lot of leeway. One mistake may be enough to ultimately have him kicked off the force.

Meanwhile, for some other characters, they may have to get used to some other changes. Lucy, for example, will have a new training officer after her previous one got shot in the premiere. Meanwhile, Jackson has to prove himself after failing to do so, despite his family legacy, in the premiere.

Talia forces Nolan to confront his personal moral instincts in order to be a good cop after he encounters a kidnapping victim. Meanwhile, Lucy is temporarily placed with a new training officer who tests her patience, and Jackson must confront his failures head-on if he wants to be an officer.
We don’t think that we’re going to see any of our rookies fail, at least in the near future, to the point that they are fired. Yet, we certainly do envision that they are all going to continue to be tested on some level. John Nolan is going to have to prove he can handle this, and there are also questions regarding what’s going to happen when it comes to his relationship with Lucy. There is a big age difference there and, beyond that, Talia pressed her to break it off at the end of the premiere.
