This Is Us season 3 spoilers: Chrissy Metz teases Kate’s road ahead

Kate's pregnancy

Is there a chance for some happier storytelling coming up for Kate on This Is Us season 3? Will we have an opportunity to actually see this character celebrate something?

While Kate did get a chance to marry Toby last season, almost everything has been pretty terrible ever since. She’s struggled to get pregnant, we know Toby is going to struggle with depression, and on this past episode, she didn’t feel like she had a lot of support from most of her family.

So … are there actually some happier times coming for this character? It does actually feel like that could be the case. Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Chrissy Metz had the following to say when it comes to Kate’s story, and also some of what could be coming:

“She just had the egg retrieval and we’re going to see how that’s going to go. I’ve been told it’s going to be positive, so people are not going to be heartbroken, completely, but it won’t be easy.”

Our interpretation of this at the moment is rather simple: There are going to be some serious highs and lows when it comes to Kate’s storyline coming up. There will be moments to smile at, but also a number of moments where you’ll get a little misty-eyed. These two things are going to come at you in tandem throughout the weeks ahead and you have to be prepared for them.

Of course, one of the reasons why this story may take a little bit more time is simply because there are so many other stories that need to be addressed. Take, for example, Jack’s past in Vietnam, Kevin’s eventual journey to the country, and then eventually also seeing Randall’s run for public office. All of these things are going to take a lot of time to unravel, and sometimes, This Is Us can move at a slow pace in order to capture all of the necessary emotional moments.
