Mr. Mercedes season 2 episode 9 preview: Frankenstein has left the building

Mr Mercedes season 2

While season 1 of Mr Mercedes had Brady front and center physically out mowing people down at a job fair, killing his boss and accidentally murdering his mother, season 2 has been way more of a psychological thrill ride. We have watched Dr. Felix Babineau feeding Brady experimental drugs to help bring him out of his coma and during his treatment it has given him the power to take over people’s bodies and have them do all sorts of terrible things like a nurse being compelled to throw herself off a roof, and he forced another hospital worker to kill his brother, slaughter a dog and try to murder Hodges. Brady may have been bed ridden for most of the season, but it hasn’t stopped him from going on a murderous rampage…. but all of that is about to change.

In the promo that CarterMatt has for you below, you can see that Brady is now in the wind. Hodges arrives at the hospital only to find that Brady has been clearly faking his coma for a while now (and we saw some of that when he was doing exercises in his bed to shake off the atrophy and regain his strength) and is gone – but gone where? Brady’s house is destroyed, and his family is all dead, but if you remember from season 1 he has a secret computer lab somewhere that he should be able to continue his reign of chaos.

Now that Brady is fully functional again, we have a few questions moving forward as we close in on the end of the season with the biggest one being about his mind control powers: Does he still have them now that he’s out of his coma? One of the scariest villains we’ve ever seen on television was Kilgrave over on Jessica Jones and a large part of that is due to his mind control ability – a truly terrifying ability. With someone like Brady having a power like this and being able to tap into it’s full potential he can really start to reign chaos on the city. The other question we have is what is Brady going to have in store for Hodges? He is clearly on Brady’s hit list, but we know that Brady wants to watch him suffer and with Hodges having so many close friends and family around him Brady has his pick of the litter to really hit him where it hurts the most.

One thing we want to give the show credit for is referring to Brady as “Frankenstein” something that they’ve done already this season as well as in this promo. If you didn’t already know, Harry Treadaway played Dr. Frankenstein in the series Penny Dreadful (he’s insanely brilliant in it and if you haven’t seen it we highly recommend giving it a watch), which is a fun call back to some of his other work.

With only two episode of Mr Mercedes left, how do you think it’s all going to end? Leave us a comment in the box below with your thoughts. (Photo: Audience network)
