Is there a chance that The Haunting of Hill House season 2 will eventually come to Netflix following its series premiere this weekend?
Let’s kick things off with this: It certainly seems as though the cast behind the scenes is eager to do more of the horror adaptation. No matter what happens beyond this season, actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen seems to think it could go on for a while. Speaking per Digital Spy, here is some of what he had to say:
“There’s millions of different options, they could continue on and have it a couple of years on and how the remaining Cranes are dealing with [the situation] … They could go back and tell the story of the Hills at Hill House, they could do an anthology. There’s so many options that they can toy with here which I think makes it so exciting to be part of a show like this.”
Of course, the future success of The Haunting of Hill House is really going to be based on what the total viewership for the series is, coupled with the social-media buzz and also the carry-through from one episode to the next. As we explain in the video below (be sure to subscribe for more updates), Netflix ratings are rather-complicated in that they look mostly at retention of viewers more than the number of people who start a show. They want to know that there will be an audience there in the event that there is a second season coming up in the future.
Netflix doesn’t have to rush things along when it comes to making a decision. They’ve got some time; the most important period for a show like this is the next few weeks, given that Halloween is when the bulk of its viewership is going to come. That’s what made the release window so smart.
